Fantastic news from France!! Our 2 tags have arrived in San Diego and they are now safely in Brent’s hands. They will be sent off for analysis and then stand by for ground breaking data and history making news! I am so relieved that they are safely with Brent. You always worry that such a precious cargo might get lost somewhere along the way…but Brent has just emailed to say he has them and we are delighted! Here is a close up of tag 66003, our famous year old tag.  Look how battered it is - almost like someone has tried to scrape off some bits…for now it is a mystery. We will learn a lot about this tag in the coming days but we will never know everything about its journey… Volker and I are in France and we send you bisou a tous!!

I’m getting really curious now. What are you expecting Nimu? Have these tags been on for only a few days? If so will it give you enough information to really say much? What kind of data are they collecting?

I think I was wrong about the tags providing biological data such as heart rate, body temperature, etc. But you know, we use a sensor that fits on your fingertip, it tells us your heart rate and oxygen saturation. I’m guessing these tags will tell us how far these whale sharks travel and how deep they go as well. Time will only tell if my hunch is right… Post a comment
